Samsung’s Galaxy S11 is getting more and more clear with each passing day. Last week, an APK teardown of the Samsung Camera app revealed several interesting camera features that are in development. „Single take” was among the new additions. Well, Samsung has just filed trademark for this feature, plus for one more feature that goes by the name „Video spin.”
Samsung submitted the two trademark applications to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on November 21, 2019. Both the trademarks are categorized as „class 9” and carry the following description: „Smartphones; Computers; Computer software; Tablet computers; Downloadable and recorded computer application software for creating, editing, and saving of photography and videos; Cameras for smartphones.”
As per the references found in the code, Single take will allow users to capture a scene in a series of photos and short videos. Video spin, meanwhile, is not there in the latest Samsung Camera APK, so it’s not clear what it does. You can view the Single take trademark here, and the Video spin here (via LetsGoDigital).
The Galaxy S11 is the ideal candidate to debut these camera features
There’s no evidence that either of Single take or Video spin, or any other unreleased camera feature for that matter, will debut on the Galaxy S11. However, that’s highly likely as none of them have been implemented in the latest live build for the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10.
The Samsung Galaxy S11 is expected to be a photography powerhouse, featuring a 108-megapixel primary camera at the back. The device will also be featuring powerful zooming capabilities, if Samsung’s recent „Space Zoom” trademark is anything to go by. The Galaxy S11 may also equip motion detection capabilities.
And with all these next-gen camera technologies on board, it’s only fitting that it debuts some new software tricks as well.
The recent APK teardown of the Samsung Camera app also revealed several other unreleased camera features. Director’s View, Night Hyperlapse, and Vertical Panoramas are to name a few. There are references to 8K video recording as well.
To recall, the Exynos 990 SoC, which will be powering the Galaxy S11 phones, does have the capability to record 8K video at 30fps. The Snapdragon 865, which hasn’t been announced yet, will also likely support 8K 30fps video recording, as it will be powering this phone in select markets.
The Galaxy S11 will arrive in February next year. Once it goes official, you can expect these camera features to make their way into older Galaxy flagships via software updates. The Galaxy S10 and the Note 10 series phones are pretty much confirmed to get all of these software-enabled camera tricks. How many of them make it into other Galaxy devices remains to be seen.
