Samsung plans to bring its Camera Assistant app to more Galaxy devices. Specifically, it will expand support to Galaxy A series mid-range phones down the line. According to a moderator on the company’s official community forum, the Galaxy A54 and the like will get Camera Assistant with the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update later this year or early next year. The app is currently limited to flagship models.
Samsung’s Camera Assistant app will be available for Galaxy A phones
Samsung launched the Camera Assistant app in October of last year. Debuted with the One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy S23 series, the company recently made the app available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 2. It also added several new features to the app, such as multiple image softening modes, improved shutter speed, screen dimming while recording videos, and more.
Following this expansion, many users have been questioning if Camera Assistant will be available for mid-range Galaxy smartphones. Responding to a Galaxy A53 user, a Samsung moderator recently said that the company is “trying to support as many models as possible”. They added that the Galaxy A series will get the app with “One UI change in the second half of the year”. They should be referring to One UI 6.0, which will arrive with the Android 14 update around October.
The moderator didn’t provide a list of supported Galaxy A models. They said users will be notified once Samsung is ready to roll out the Camera Assistant app to mid-range devices. The Galaxy A5x lineup, such as the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A53, should be the first to get it. The company may also release the app for the Galaxy A34 and its predecessors. We will let you know when the rollout begins. Android 14 for Galaxy devices is still several months away.
Samsung also has two more separate camera apps
Camera Assistant isn’t the only camera app for Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones. It also offers Expert RAW and Galaxy Enhance-X. The three apps offer a different sets of functionality. The former unlocks several new features that you don’t get in the stock camera app, while Expert RAW gives professional-grade controls and photography functions. Lastly, Galaxy Enhance-X lets you quickly remaster photos after capturing them.
Availability of all three apps is currently limited to flagship models but Samsung recently announced that Galaxy Enhance-X ( currently Galaxy S23-exclusive) will be available to most of its Galaxy smartphones, including budget devices.
