Samsung is continuing to deploy the latest security patch for select Galaxy devices. The company has already started rolling out the update on the Galaxy S24 series and its foldable phones from last year. Now, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, Fold 4, and Flip 4 are receiving the March 2025 security update.
Samsung sends the March 2025 security update to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, Fold 4, and Flip 4
Similar to the update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, the company is sending the OTA to units in South Korea first. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is receiving the new firmware under the build number F946NKSS5DYBD. On the other hand, the update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has the build number F731NKSS5DYBE.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are receiving the same treatment, also in Korea. In this case, the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are getting the update under build numbers F721NKSS6GYBE and F936NKSS6GYBD, respectively.
The March 2025 security update doesn’t bring any surprises or new features to these devices. Remember that Samsung is still engaged in the troubled development of One UI 7. The patch includes fixes for more than 40 vulnerabilities, so your device will be more secure, though. Most of the fixes come from Google, but there are seven for security holes in Samsung’s hardware/software.
Samsung will probably expand the availability of the update to more regions in the coming days.
One UI 7 stable rollout seems far away
You probably have questions about the Android 15-based One UI 7 update for these phones. However, you’ll probably have to be very patient. Samsung has just started the beta program on its 2024 flagship foldable handsets. The Galaxy S24 series beta program will end in April, so it will last about three months before the stable update rollout begins. Google is reportedly planning to launch the Android 16 update earlier than usual this year.
If Samsung takes a similar development time on other eligible devices, the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold 5 could receive Android 15 when Android 16 is already available. The update for the Z Fold and Flip 4 would be even further away. There isn’t even a date yet for the start of the beta program for these models.
