The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is now available, and it’s the first smartwatch on the market with Wear OS 6. That’s Google’s newest version of Wear OS, which does bring in Material 3 Expressive. However, the Galaxy Watch 8 isn’t quite ready to handle this redesign.
Some users may end up with compatibility issues out of the box for the Galaxy Watch 8 series, especially if you’re using it with an Android 16 QPR1 beta device like a Pixel 9. However, these compatibility issues shouldn’t last long, as the stable version of Android 16 QPR1 is slated to rollout in September.
With One UI 8 Watch, which is based on Wear OS 6, Samsung did do some redesigning of its own. Which has been quite polarizing since it was announced. Now, these squircle watches with circular displays are getting pill-shaped tiles. Which really shows how much Samsung loves their shapes. But tiles are also scrollable now. So with the Samsung Health Tile, you can scroll vertically to see more data.
Galaxy Watch 8 Pre-orders offer up to $250 off
You can still pre-order your Galaxy Watch 8 right now, which will ship by July 25. And Samsung is offering some pretty sweet deals on the Galaxy Watch 8 right now. First off, it’s $50 off, making the 40mm just $299 and the 44mm just $329. Additionally, you can save up to $200 with a trade-in, and this is instant trade-in credit as well.
And if you reserved ahead of time, you have a $50 credit that you can use to drop this even further. Making this a pretty affordable smartwatch.
Samsung does have a few other bonuses available now, like 30% off a pair of Galaxy Buds 3 or Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, and 30% off a second watch band.
