OnePlus has just started rolling out a new update for the OnePlus 5 and 5T, OxygenOS 9.0.10. This update brings a new Android security patch to the two phones, along with various fixes and optimizations.
There are only two entries in this changelog. OxygenOS 9.0.10 brings the Android security patch for December to these two smartphones.
Security patch for January is the latest one provided by Google, so this is not the latest one. Do note that the OnePlus 5 and 5T were released in 2017, though, so manage your expectations.

In addition to that security patch, OnePlus also improved system stability on the two devices. On top of that, the company also squashed some bugs on the two phones.
Details regarding those stability fixes and bug-squashing were not detailed by the company. That entry is pretty much standard for every update OnePlus releases. There are various little optimizations and bug-removing that gets done with each update.
This update is currently rolling out to all unlocked OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones. Do note that this update is rolling out in stages, though, so it may take several days for it to reach your phone.
Once the update is ready for your device, you will get a notification. You can also check manually whether the update is available via the Settings app on your phone.
If everything goes according to plan, this update will become available to everyone within a week. OnePlus may decide to stop rolling it out if it notices some huge bugs in it in the meantime.
As already mentioned, these two devices were announced back in 2017. Both of them were the company’s flagships at the time they were announced.
These two phones are quite similar on the inside
The two phones are actually equipped with the same processor. They share most of their internals, even though they look somewhat different. The OnePlus 5T has thinner bezels, and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.
OnePlus introduced quite a few devices since these two smartphones. Still, these two phones are holding their own when it comes to performance.
It is nice to see that security updates are still reaching devices released well over two years ago, along with some general improvements, that’s for sure.
