This Is What The Power Menu Will Look Like In Android 11

The power menu is going to get a redesign in Android 11, and thanks to a support document that was found on Google’s website, we know exactly what it’s going to look like.
The images below show what the UI is going to look like, when Android 11 rolls out to everyone. It’s going to have a lot more functionality than it has had in the past. In the past, it was just used for power, reboot and for emergencies. Now, it’s going to function as a shortcut to Google Pay and to control some smart home devices that are tied to your account. Making use of all of that space.
Quick access to Google Pay should make it more widely used
Being able to long-press the power button to bring up Google Pay is going to make it a lot easier to get too, when you are checking out. And that should also mean that it will be more widely used. Currently, Google Pay isn’t all that popular, partly because people aren’t sure which stores use Google Pay and it’s still a bit of a nuisance to use.
However with this move to bringing your cards into the power menu, that should change.
When you long-press the power button, you are going to see your default card. You can then swipe left or right to change it to another card, that you wish to use. Then tap your phone on the terminal and you are good to go.
As also mentioned, in this UI, you’re going to get „Quick Controls”. These are user-customizable and will include controls for smart home products as well as some Android options. Google is of course, focusing on the smart home controls though. These controls would allow you to turn on and off some lights, unlock a smart lock and more. There is even a camera there with a live view so you can quickly see what is happening at home when you are not at home.
This won’t be a Pixel-only feature
Based on the code found in Android 11 and the support documents found on Google’s website, it appears that this feature is not going to be exclusive to Pixel smartphones. It’ll be available for all Android 11 smartphones.
Of course, it’ll be a while before we see any smartphones that aren’t a Pixel, with Android 11. But it’s good to see that it is going to be available to everyone.
