June marks the beginning of Pride month for the LGBTQIA+ community. And this year, Pandora is looking to the future of pride, and launching its Qmunity station.
The station is live starting today, and Pandora users will be able to listen to and celebrate Pride however they want with the new Qmunity station. Pandora isn’t going it alone with this, as Xfinity is sponsoring this station.
Qmunity will feature many popular Pride anthems
As expected, the Pandora Qmunity Station is going to feature many iconic Pride anthems. These include those from Madonna, Whitney Houston and ABBA. It will also have a „Future or Pride” mode which is going to allow listeners to tune the station to play more music from emerging artists.
These emerging artists include Sam Smith, Troye Sivan and Kim Petras, to name a few.
This new „Future of Pride” mode will also have hand-picked selections from incredible artists like The Aces, Vincint, Shaed, Wrabel and much more.
This is one of Pandora’s genre stations to feature the Mode functionality
According to Pandora, this is going to be the first genre station that will feature its Mode functionality. This gives listeners more control over the types of songs played on the station with selectable „modes” that are thematic. But it won’t be the last, as Pandora is working on a genre station that uses this Mode functionality, for Black History Month – even though that already passed, back in February.
You’ll be able to check out the Qmunity Station and Future of Pride Mode on Pandora and also on many other platforms like Xfinity X1 and Xfinity Flex.
That’s not all either. Pandora is also working with Snapchat so that users can create their own unique song and AR experience with brand-new technology. This is going to start on June 28, and Snapchatters will be able to tap to remix the music and effects within the Lens. This way users are able to celebrate Pride with their own customized anthem.
Pandora is planning to do a whole lot more for Pride month throughout June, so look for more announcements from the company later this month.
The Pandora Qmunity Station is a really cool way for the LGBTQIA+ community to celebrate Pride month, and of course this is all available free on Pandora. You don’t need to subscribe to its paid account to use these new features, which is definitely nice to see.
