TCL has mostly been into the Roku scene, but it has now moved into making Android TVs and they are now available from Best Buy.
As with TCL’s other TVs, these are pretty cheap. We’re talking under $200. But don’t expect a 4K display out of these TVs, unfortunately.
There are two TCL Android TVs available
TCL is starting out with two Android TV models. There is a 32-inch 720p for $129. And then there is a 40-inch Full HD (1080p) model that is $199. For most people, it’ll be worth it to spend the extra $70 and get full HD on their TV. And a slightly larger display is always nice.
These are part of the 3-Series from TCL. Which is normally the company’s most budget of TVs and that is definitely the case here. However, if you are looking for a somewhat cheap TV for a second bedroom, or even to use on the patio this summer, then these are great options.
TCL hasn’t given up on Roku, quite the contrary actually. But in offering Android TV, the company is giving its consumers more choices. Many people love their TVs, but would like to have the option to get one with Android TV built-in instead of Roku. And now that is a reality.
Google Assistant, Cast & plenty of other apps are available
Since these TVs are running on Android TV, you can expect a ton of great apps. These include HBO MAX, SHOWTIME ANYWHERE, Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, Google Play Movies & TV, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and much more, on these TVs.
On top of that, they also come with Google Assistant. So you can ask the Assistant questions, or have it control your smart home products and a whole lot more. All with your voice. Now it is not always listening, so you will need to press the microphone button to start talking. There is also Cast, so you can cast just about anything from your smartphone to the TV. Including apps that don’t have official Android TV support.
You can buy these TCL Android TVs from Best Buy today. These start at $129, and go up to $199. As we have mentioned here, these are not the most robust TVs out there, in fact they aren’t even in 4K. But if you’re looking for a cheap TV, maybe for a dorm room, or a guest bedroom, then these are great options.
