The next big phone on the horizon is the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. And much like the Galaxy S20 series, it looks like there’s going to be three models. We’re hearing that the specs for the Galaxy Note 20 though, won’t be great. In fact, they are going to be pretty disappointing.
Now, before we jump into the meat of these specs, let’s remember that with three Galaxy Note 20 devices, Samsung needs to find ways to differentiate them, and sell all three. And specs is the easiest and best way to do just that.
So here it goes. The vanilla Galaxy Note 20 (we’re unsure if this is the Galaxy Note 20 or the „Note 20 Lite”), is going to sport a 60Hz, flat full HD+ display. Making it almost a downgrade from last year’s Galaxy Note 10.
This information comes from Ice Universe, who has had a really good track record with leaks regarding Samsung in the past few years. So it’s very possible that this is accurate. Hopefully, this is for the „cheapest” Galaxy Note 20 series model.
Galaxy Note 20 will be far less impressive than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
It looks like Samsung may have learned its lesson with the Galaxy S20 Ultra. And instead of having the specs of all three Galaxy Note 20 models pretty similar (like with the Galaxy S20 series), there is going to be some major differences.
This is also according to Ice Universe, who said that the specs of the Galaxy Note 20 will be far less impressive, when compared with the Ultra model.
Now that does not necessarily mean that the Galaxy Note 20 is going to be much cheaper, or that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will be much more expensive. But it does mean that Samsung is doing more to differentiate the models this year. Which was sadly needed with the Galaxy S20 series released earlier this year.
The Galaxy Note 20+ and Note 20 Ultra are expected to sport 120Hz QHD+ displays, which is pretty much what we’d expect from a flagship smartphone in 2020. The prices of these three phones will really decide on how popular they are, and how well they sell.
We should find out everything in about six weeks time. As Samsung is preparing to announce the Galaxy Note 20 (as well as the Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G) on August 5. It’ll be done in an online-only Unpacked event, for the first time ever. Since the global pandemic is limiting large gatherings still.
