Xiaomi's Fire TV Stick Killer Just Leaked Again

The upcoming Mi TV Stick from Xiaomi was already listed on Chinese reseller websites a while ago. Now, the updated listing hints the Xiaomi’s streaming device will be coming in two different variants — Mi TV Stick FHD and Mi TV Stick 4K.
As the name suggests, the Mi TV Stick 4K will support streaming in 4K resolution. On the other hand, the non-4K variant will be limited to Full HD streaming. Coming to the pricing, the Full HD and 4K variants will reportedly cost $49 and $133 respectively.
Xiaomi to launch Mi TV Stick in Full HD and 4K variants
The search page on the Gearbest website earlier showed the price of the Mi TV Stick as $80. We don’t think the Mi TV Stick 4K will cost more than double of the Full HD variant. The official pricing will be known only when Xiaomi officially launches it.
While the Full HD variant will feature 1GB of RAM, the 4K variant packs double the amount of RAM, i.e., 2GB. Other specifications remain the same on both the variants. The Mi TV Stick comes with Chromecast built-in and supports Google Assistant.
Moreover, the Bluetooth remote control features dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video. It also supports Dolby Audio and DTS Surround Sound. The unboxing video of the Full HD variant of the Mi TV Stick also surfaced online.
The streaming stick runs on stock Android TV OS
Unlike the Mi TVs, which run on the custom PatchWall UI, the streaming devices from Xiaomi comes with stock Android TV OS. Even the new Mi TV Stick runs on Android 9.0 TV OS out of the box.
In terms of performance, the 4K variant seems to sport a superiors quad-core processor than the one found on the Full HD variant. Both the variants offer 8GB of eMMC storage. Also, the Full HD variant lacks the dual WiFi support.
It includes an HDMI port for connecting to the TV and a MicroUSB port for supplying the power. The specifications of the Mi TV Stick are similar to that of the Mi Box S launched in 2018.
Since the Mi Box S was officially launched in the US, we also expect the company to launch the upcoming Mi TV Stick as well. It competes with the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Google’s upcoming Android TV dongle codenamed Sabrina. The successor to the Chromecast Ultra also comes bundled with remote control.
