Earlier this week, Google announced the new Chromecast which also comes with Google TV. And it is wasting no time in making it free for those that sign up for its other services.
It’s a tactic that Amazon has been employing for years, with its Fire TV and Echo devices.
Those that sign up for YouTube TV, can get a free Chromecast with Google TV. Which is actually $15 less than a month of YouTube TV. So basically, for $65, you are getting a free Chromecast plus a month of YouTube TV.
Of course, this only applies to those that have never signed up for YouTube TV in the past. You will need to be a new subscriber.

What is Chromecast with Google TV?
Chromecast with Google TV is the latest Chromecast from the company, and a stark departure from the regular Chromecast that had been such a hit for Google. It’s still a dongle that plugs into the back of your TV. But now, it has an interface and a remote. It basically has Android TV built-in, with Google TV on-top.
Google TV is a new launcher for Android TV – only available on this Chromecast for now – that makes it easier to find something to watch, as well as finding your apps and such. There is the Library tab that allows you to find different titles that are available across the many apps installed on your Chromecast. So instead of jumping from app to app, you can simply open the library and browse to find something to watch.
Google gave this Chromecast a remote because it says it’s the thing that customers continued to ask for, over and over again. Previously, you had to use your phone as the remote. Which was kind of easy, since you can cast from your smartphone to your TV. But given network connections, it sometimes would time out, or not connect properly. And having an actual remote would have fixed that.
The Chromecast with Google TV comes in three colors: snow, sand and sky. Which are white, orange and blue respectively. The colors really don’t matter since it’ll sit behind your TV. But you may want a different colored remote control that is going to stand out – and maybe not get lost as easily. But we’ll see if that actually solves the problem.
