Top 9 Best PS5 Accessories List
In the list below you’ll find all of our picks for best PS5 accessories along with short descriptions about each item. You’ll also find buy links to each item in the event you decide to pick something up.
Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset
Price: $99.99
Where To Buy: Amazon, B&H, Best Buy
There is without a doubt likely not going to be a better headset for the PS5 than the PULSE 3D wireless headset that comes straight from Sony. At least not right away. In time there may be, but for now this looks like a pretty comfortable headset, and it might be a much better design than Sony’s official PS4 wireless headsets.
You’ll also be assured that this will take advantage of all of the PS5’s 3D audio features to the fullest extent. It supports voice chat with friends and has a battery life of up to 12 hours. While the battery life leaves a little to be desired, it’s easy enough to charge it, and the design matches the console which is a big plus if you like your hardware to match.
You can also connect it up to the PSVR if you have one of those, meaning you don’t have to have a separate headset just for that.
While you may not always want to play with a headset on, there are sure to be times where playing with a headset is a good option, whether to experience better audio in a game or so you don’t wake others up if you play late. Making this one of the best PS5 accessories on this list and a must-have for most PS5 gamers.
Sony DualSense Controller
Price: $69.99
Where To Buy: Amazon, B&H, Best Buy
You obviously can’t play games on the PS5 without the DualSense controller. The PS5 does come with one controller, but if you want to play with a friend or family member, then you’ll need an extra.
If you’re like me, then you simply like to have a backup controller or two with full batteries ready to go. If you ever have one die on you, then you have one with a full charge that you can pick up and connect in seconds. Meanwhile you can toss the other controller onto the charging station or plug it in with a USB-C cable and charge it back up.
This is a nifty setup to have, because you will always have a controller ready to use. The DualSense controller offers things like haptic triggers, the touch pad of the DualShock 4, new and improved thumbsticks, and a slightly larger design than the DualShock 4 too.
It’s obviously a required accessory for the PS5, but also one of the best accessories for the PS5, since there aren’t really any aftermarket PS5 controllers yet. Though you should expect there to be some before too long.
Sony DualSense Charging Station
Price: $29.99
Where To Buy: Amazon, B&H, Best Buy
Speaking of controllers and charging them up, the DualSense charging station is the next accessory on our list of best PS5 accessories.
You can charge the controller with a USB-C cable if you wish. But the charging station will keep things wireless and a lot less disorganized. It’ll help keep your desk or entertainment center clutter-free, or at least make for less clutter than usual.
It also has one major benefit over charging with the USB-C cable. The ability to charge two DualSense controllers at once. The PS5 only has one USB-C port. So if you want to charge with a USB-C to USB-C cable, you can only charge one controller at a time.
You could probably charge another DualSense controller with a USB-C to USB-A cable plugged into one of the USB ports on the back. But why deal with all that hassle when the charging station can make things much easier on you. It’s also possible that will charge the controller slower.
Plus, you might already have those USB ports in back taken up. And if you do then you’ll have to rely on unplugging something every time you want to charge a controller.
Sony HD Camera
Price: $59.99
Where To Buy: Amazon, B&H, Best Buy
Sony’s new HD Camera for the PS5 is just as sleek as the rest of the official accessories and is a perfect accessory to have (also one of the best) if you plan to stream your gameplay.
The PS5 makes it really easy to stream your gameplay to friends and viewers, making for a whole new experience that you can share with others.
The HD Camera offers 1080p capture, letting you snap quick still shots of yourself during really exciting, funny, or haunting moments, or you can use it to broadcast yourself to let others follow along with you as you explore your current game.
It also has a built-in stand so it shouldn’t be too troublesome to set up and keep in place. Sony baked in some background removal tools too. Now not everyone cares to remove the background from the broadcasting. But some do prefer to have only the image of themselves show up in the stream.
This also proves useful as it takes up less of the gameplay that can be seen behind you. Which means viewers can see more of the game UI and that’s never a bad thing.
Sony PS5 Media Remote
Price: $29.99
Where To Buy: Amazon, B&H, Best Buy
If you had a PS4 and used it to watch streaming TV content, but didn’t get a media remote to control stuff, you probably know the pain of navigating using the DualShock 4 instead.
While it does work, it’s not as enjoyable or as convenient as using a remote. So don’t make the same mistake with the PS5. Enter the PS5 Media Remote that not only has a more natural feeling set of buttons for the purpose of watching TV, but also dedicated buttons for a few of the top streaming services.
This includes a button for Disney+ (so you can easily get caught up on the Mandalorian), Netflix, and YouTube. It also has a Spotify button if you want to pull up some music while you play games.
Of course it also has pause/play buttons, volume up and down buttons, a mute button, a mic button, and buttons for skipping tracks or seeking through your video content. All in all, this is one of the best PS5 accessories to have if you plan to watch video content on the console.
SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless Headset
Price: $149.99
Where To Buy: Best Buy
Moving out of the territory of the official Sony accessories for the PS5, one of the best headsets on the market that doesn’t come from Sony but will work with the new console, is the Arctis 7P from SteelSeries.
The Arctis 7P was designed for use with the PS5 and it even comes with the same general design scheme. Featuring mostly white components with some accents of black and just a touch of blue.
Since it’s designed for the PS5 it should also take advantage of the 3D audio features. Sony also did confirm that you won’t need its PULSE 3D wireless headset to use the 3D audio, and that some aftermarket headsets would be compatible.
Like all Arctis headsets, the Arctis 7P comes with a ClearCast retractable microphone that stows away inside of the left ear when you don’t need it. There’s also a dedicated mute button and on-ear controls for everything else from power to chat and game volume adjustment.
There’s also swivel earcups, plus it uses the famous ski goggle headband for some really insane comfort during longer gaming sessions. On top of all that, the Arctis 7P will also work for the PS4 and PS4 Pro, and it works for PC and mobile too. Making this a versatile piece of gear.
Collective Minds DualSense Charging Station
Price: $19.99
Where To Buy: Amazon
Sony does make its own wireless charging station for the DualSense controller, but it certainly won’t be the only company out there making this exact accessory.
In fact this alternative from Collective Minds does just that and is meant specifically for the DualSense controller. Like the official Sony one, it charges two controllers at once so you can always keep one controller topped up for when the other one dies on you.
God forbid you’re in the middle of an intense fight in Demon’s Souls and the controller dies at the worst moment. And while you probably wouldn’t survive if this situation arises, you would at least be able to pick things back up a few seconds later instead of having to wait by charging the controller. Or plugging it in with a USB-C cable. Assuming you had a second controller that is.
Which you should if you want things to be easier. Also worth mentioning is that this charging station is about $10 cheaper than the one from Sony, so you can save a little bit of money.
Anker Powerline+ III USB-C Cable
Price: $29.99
Where To Buy: Amazon
Ok so maybe you prefer to charge your controllers with the USB-C cable. And that’s totally fine. There are even a few advantages to this.
Using a USB-C cable allows you to plug the controller in and charge it while you continue to play. This makes the Anker Powerline+ III USB-C cable one of the best PS5 accessories for that reason alone. Using the charging station is nice when you don’t intend to continue playing once the controller needs to be charged. But I find that often times, the controller dies when I’m still intending on using it.
It’s at this point that I simply plug the controller in and continue my game. This cable allows you to do so because it’s USB-C to USB-C. So you can plug it into the front of the PS5. It’s also a 6-foot braided cable. Which means more durability, and it’s long enough to stretch across the room from the TV to the couch or where ever you sit while you play.
At least it should be if you don’t have the console set up more than 6 feet away from where you’ll be sitting. $30 might seem like a lot for a cable, but this is one of the best cables you can get and it’ll last you quite a long time. Likely the entire life of the PS5 and then some.
KontrolFreek Galaxy White Thumbstick Grips
Price: $14.99
Where To Buy: Amazon, Walmart
If you’ve got one of the original DualShock 4 controllers, then you may have some thumb sticks that are looking a little worse for wear.
That could be avoided over the life of the controller by using thumbstick grips like these ones from KontrolFreek. Technically these are designed and made for the PS4, but since the DualSense controller has thumbsticks that look like the same size as the DualShock 4 controller, these should work for the DualSense too.
A nice bonus is that these are white which should look pretty good with the DualSense color scheme.
With these thumbsticks, they will do more than just protect the rubberized soft-touch coating on the controller’s original thumbsticks. They also have a lifted design which props the thumbsticks up a bit making them easier to use. Which ultimately should lead to better control and accuracy in your games.
The interesting part is that one thumbstick grip is mid-rise and is meant for the left thumbstick, while the other one is a high-rise design meant for the right thumbstick. This way you have one for better control, and one for better accuracy.
They’re also not just for FPS games and will work for anything you play.
