Mophie latest 4-in-1 wireless charging mat is their newest charging solution. Now you can wirelessly charge four devices simultaneously on its padded surface. Oh, and there is a USB-A outlet for charging a device that does not support Qi wireless charging.
Unboxing experience
Inside the box is a tablet-sized charging mat, a 60W charging brick with a built-in cable, and an Apple Watch charging puck adapter. The quality of the packaging conveys a sense that you are purchasing a premium device.
Design and build quality impressions
The charging mat is slightly larger than my iPad Pro and slightly smaller than my Surface Pro 3. The edges and corners are rounded and smooth with a nice matte texture. The top surface has an elegant looking textured fabric in gray color with a subtle Mophie logo. The rest of the body is black plastic. There is a cutout lip running on the bottom surface which helps in thermal management and keeps the mat cool during charging.
On the bottom of the mat is a soft slightly tacky textured fabric with the labeling information. The four tiny bumps help to keep the mat steady on a flat surface while the textured tacky material helps in preventing the mat from wanting to slide off the surface.
On the back, there is a USB-A port for wired charging along with a charging input port. There is a groove with a cutout to mount the Apple Watch charging puck adapter as well. There are four LED lights in the front which light up when you place a device in the appropriate location on the charging mat. The mat is fairly lightweight and should be easy to lug around if you choose.
Using the 4-in-1 mat on a daily basis
Setting up the charging mat takes less than a minute. Place the Mophie 4-in-1 mat on a flat surface. Plug the power brick in the wall outlet and insert the cable in the back of the mat. Snap the Apple Watch adapter on the back if you require it. And that’s it. Of course, you can also add a USB-A cable if you plan to charge a non-Qi-compatible device.
I think this is a unique solution that is most suited to families. Or for folks with too many gadgets like yours truly. This charging mat can support 10W of wireless power simultaneously for two smartphones with its 60W power brick. You can charge two smartphones (10W each) and two sets of wireless earbuds (5W each) concurrently.
During my review period, I charged my S20 FE, Pixel 4XL, and iPhone XR without any issues. Every single phone had a case of some sort on it and that did not interfere with the charging at all. My S20 FE immediately displayed 'Fast Wireless Charging’ as soon as I would place the phone on the mat.
I also charged a couple of sets of Bluetooth wireless earbuds on and off the middle portion of the charging mat. Thermal management is great at dissipating the heat generated and I didn’t have any untoward hot surfaces to touch during my review period.
To test the USB-A outlet I paired it with the Apple watch adapter that clips on the back. Note that you have to use your own Apple Watch magnetic charging puck. Of course, you can charge your Wear OS device or any other fitness tracker via the USB-A port. In fact, just skip the Apple Watch adapter for a cleaner look. As you can see from the pictures I had no trouble charging my Apple Watch 4.
For our Android readers, I charged a Mi Band 4 and an older smartphone that doesn’t support Qi wireless charging. Both devices charged fine without any issues. I even did a mini hack and managed to get the Mi Band 4 nestled on the Apple Watch adapter.
Four LED lights in the front light up when you place a device in the appropriate location on the charging mat. These lights only stay on for the first few seconds to let you know that charging has started. Do the lights stay lit once charging is complete? Verify.
Mophie 4-in-1 charging mat is a convenient wireless charging solution
I like the convenience of charging your phone, earbuds, and wearable device in one place. Better yet when you can charge two sets of smartphones and earbuds simultaneously.
If you are a fan of Qi wireless charging then this is a good investment as more and more devices seem to support wireless charging these days. An additional benefit is that you can apply the KonMari method on the various cables and charging bricks in your house. While MSRP of $149.95 is a bit on the high side you can use the special promo code to get a 25% discount.
The unique design of the Mophhie 4-in-1 charging mat can help to declutter charging accessories while improving the look of your charging station.
