How to enable two-factor authentication on PS5
First things first here, and quite obviously, power on the PS5 console and get to the home screen. Sometimes you’re allowed to set up these kinds of settings online via your account webpage, or through companion apps. But in this case you’ll do everything from the PS5 itself.
Go to the Settings menu

Start by going to the settings menu on your PS5 console, which is a little cog button located in the top right corner of the home screen.
Highlight that and then start looking for the Users and accounts section of the menu. It’s here that you’ll find the security settings and the options within that sub-menu that you can toggle on or off.
Under users and accounts, you’ll be immediately on the accounts section. This is what you want as the security section is located here.
Open the Security section of the menu and find 2-step verification

Once you open up the security section of the menu, scroll down to find 2-step verification. Click on that and you’ll be given the two options within that you can toggle on and flip between. Both options perform the same task so you won’t need to enable them both and you can’t enable both at the same time anyways.
Under this section you’ll be asked to select how you want to be sent verification codes in the event that you try to login using your PlayStation account. Your options will be to get verification codes either through text message, or through an authentication application you would have installed on your phone.
If you’ve never used an authentication app before, then you can select text message. If the console ever requires you to enter an authentication code, you’ll get a text from PlayStation that will contain this code.
Choosing either method will be secure. Though if you use authentication apps for other accounts, you may as well use it here too. Authentication apps are generally more secure too. So this may be a better option for you.
Find an authentication app
There’s more than one option here for you to choose from. Apps like Google Authenticator or Authy are two of the most well-known. But there’s also Microsoft Authenticator, 2FA Authenticator, Aegis Authenticator, andOTP and more.
Pop into the Play Store or the App Store and search for 2FA and you should get a decent list of options.
