New with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3 this year, is the ability to force apps into Flex Mode, within the Flex Mode Panel. Which is a neat feature to have, but it isn’t always as nice as you’d expect it to be. The setting is also hidden, to enable this, so today we will be exploring how to force apps into Flex Mode.
It’s important to mention that this is a labs feature, so that it may cause issues with apps on your smartphone. But luckily, you can easily disable it if you need to.
How to force apps into Flex Mode on the Galaxy Z Flip 3
To force apps into Flex Mode, you’ll want to head over to Settings on your Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Then scroll down and tap on “Advanced Features”.
Next, tap on “Labs”. This will be located about halfway down the page.
Now, you’ll see an option for “Flex Mode Panel”, tap on that.
Here, you can turn on and off the Flex Mode for each individual app.
Just tap on the toggle next to each app that you want to enable Flex Mode for, and you’re all set. It’s just that easy.
Some caveats about Flex Mode Panel
As always, there are some caveats with features like this. For instance, this is a Samsung labs feature. Which means that it may not work perfectly with every app on your smartphone. If you are having problems with it, Samsung recommends turning it off for that app.
Secondly, it’s not the same Flex Mode you’ll see from other apps like YouTube or the Camera which actually support it natively. Take Google Meet for instance, when you enable it for Meet, and put it in Flex Mode, the app fills the upper portion of the screen. And the bottom portion has a toolbar that consists of volume, brightness, a notification shade pulldown and screenshot button. And that’s it.
To be honest, unless the app actually supports Flex Mode, it’s not worth forcing it into Flex Mode. But it is possible. And that’s how you can do it.
