The Sony X950G 55-inch 4K Android TV is currently on sale for just $1098. That is $300 off of its regular price and also brings it back down to its all-time lowest price. That makes this a really good time to pick one up.
The X950G is one of the higher-end models in Sony’s lineup. It is essentially a step immediately below the OLED lineup – which is a whole lot more money.
This is a 4K TV, with a really great picture quality. It has HDR included with support for HDR10 and HLG. Unfortunately, there is no support for Dolby Vision – nor Dolby Atmos. That’s a bit unfortunate, but it’s not a huge surprise, all things considered.
It will dramatically boost brightness and contrast, thanks to the next level contrast that is included. This makes darker shows easier to watch, even with this not being an OLED display. It also makes it easier to watch shows in darkness or in bright rooms.
Of course, this is an Android TV. So you’re going to get a ton of great Android apps available on this one. That includes YouTube, YouTube TV, Netflix, Google Play Movies & TV, Amazon Prime Video, and much more. Basically any app you can think of, will be on this TV.
With Android TV, you do naturally get Google Assistant and Chromecast. With Google Assistant, you can ask the Assistant to find a show to play on Netflix, or control your smart home and much more. Chromecast allows you to cast all sorts of content from your phone to your TV.
Finally, we can’t forget Amazon Alexa. That is also available on this Sony TV. So if you’re not a big user of Google Assistant and prefer to use Alexa, that is possible.
