YouTube TV subscribers can now add Acorn TV and UMC (Urban Movie Channel) to their subscription.
Both of these services are only available as paid-for options. Therefore, while subscribers won’t get them for free, YouTube TV can help users to manage the subscriptions from one account.
Along with Shudder, Sundance Now, and AMC Premiere, these services add to the growing number of AMC Network services available through the live TV streaming service.
Acorn TV is priced at $5.99 per month or $59.99 when subscribed to on a yearly-basis. UMC costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 annually. Both services are available with a free trial
YouTube TV adds more variety
Acorn TV and UMC won’t necessarily appeal to all subscribers, but will be welcomed additions for some.
Acorn TV self-identifies as „North America’s largest and most popular streaming service for British and international television.”
Subscribers can expect a number of popular British shows to be available, including „Doc Martin” and „Line of Duty.” As well as content original content, including Acorn TV’s „Queens of Mystery.”
UMC, described as „the first and largest streaming service for Black TV and film” includes original content such as „A House Divided” and „Beyond the Pole.”
Additionally, UMC hosts a number of popular and classic shows and movies, including „Black Love” and „Set It Off.”
YouTube TV’s Channel list keeps growing
YouTube TV is still considered a new service compared to the likes of AT&T TV NOW (formerly DIRECTV NOW) and Sling TV. However, YouTube TV’s channel lineup has consistently grown over time.
Before Acorn TV and UMC, AMC Premiere was one of the most recent add-on options to come to YouTube TV. However, the live TV streaming service has also been routinely adding new channels to its base subscription package.
One of the bigger channel expansions came back in April. At the time, YouTube TV incurred a price increase but the increase was accompanied by the addition of a number of new channels. This deal resulted in quite a few Discovery channels coming to YouTube TV for the first time, including Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, the Travel Channel, and Motor Trend.
YouTube TV now offers more than seventy channels.
Unlike other live TV streaming services, YouTube TV has no complicated plan options to choose between. There’s only the one base package and this costs $49.99 per month. There’s also a number of beneficial features, such as unlimited cloud DVR and multiple account support.
A seven-day free trial is available to new subscribers.
