D-Link has launched two new home security cameras with improved security features. Levering edge-based AI, these cameras can tell the difference between people and other objects and detect the sound of glass breaking in real-time. The offline video processing helps send out alerts faster and with more accuracy compared to video processing in the cloud, D-Link says.
„Cameras tell us when our kids arrive home from school, how the pets are doing, when packages arrive, and more,” said Rayan Fakhro, product line manager, consumer solutions, at D-Link Systems. „We need those notifications to be accurate. With our specially trained AI-based person and glass break detection, our cameras can do that.”
These cameras are part of D-Link’s CES 2020 exhibition. The company is also taking several mesh routers, including the Wi-Fi 6-compatible Smart AX5400 router to the mega event this year.

The Full HD Pan and Tilt Pro Wi-Fi Camera (DCS-8302LH) is D-Link’s new indoor security camera. It can rotate a full 360-degrees to view all sides of a room. It can also automatically track a subject’s motion. There’s also two-way audio so that you can talk with people who enter the room.
D-Link’s Full HD Indoor and Outdoor Pro Wi-Fi Camera (DCS-8526LH), meanwhile, is designed for outdoor use. It has a stationary design and features some additional security measures. There’ a spotlight for illuminating an area and a siren that can be set to go off when motion is detected. This camera also has two-way audio.
Both cameras can record 1080p videos. As for connectivity, the new cameras work over Wi-Fi but also have wired Ethernet abilities for a more stable connection. The cameras can be managed through the mydlink app that supports both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
D-Link offers flexibility in storing video as well. Users can choose to store the camera feed on both free or paid cloud services. They also have the option to store or stream the feed to their personal NAS devices using ONVIF Profile S. Further, D-Link has expanded the camera’s built-in storage microSD capacity to 256 GB so users can pop in a microSD card for local storage. Whichever option users choose, both live and saved video feed will be available through the companion smartphone app.
The DCS-8302LH is priced at $100 and will be available in the second quarter of this year. The DCS-8526LH, meanwhile, will arrive on the market in the third quarter of 2020 with a price tag of $120.
