Samsung is expected to announce its second-gen foldable smartphone next month, and its concept just surfaced. This is a third-party concept of the Galaxy Fold 2, but it is made based on leaks and info that Samsung shared thus far.
This concept comes from the Concept Creator YouTube channel (in partnership with Letsgodigital), and it’s presented in the form of a video. This YouTube channel is well-known for releasing such concept designs. The video itself has a duration of about a minute and a half, and it is embedded down below.
Samsung had teased its upcoming foldable smartphone during its developer’s conference last year. The company pretty much confirmed that it will offer a clamshell design.
The Galaxy Fold opened up like a book, horizontally. The Galaxy Fold 2 will almost certainly open vertically, similar to the Motorola Razr. That is exactly what the source designed here.
This Galaxy Fold 2 concept is probably quite similar to the final product
The Galaxy Fold 2 concept that you can see in the provided video opens vertically, and it folds right down the middle. Its hinge hides away when the phone is completely open, as rumors say it will on the real deal.
Samsung’s branding is imprinted on that hinge, by the way, and the device has really thin bezels. A display camera hole is present here, and it is centered at the top of the display. This is a similar setup to the Galaxy Note 10 series.
This device does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, or anything of the sort. A Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of the device, along with the phone’s loudspeaker.
The device includes two cameras on the back
There are two cameras included on the back of the device. Those two cameras are placed in the top-left corner of the phone’s back, and next to them is an LED flash. A small display is placed back there as well, in the top-right corner.
Both cameras are a part of the same camera module, and they do protrude on the back. They are horizontally aligned, in case you were wondering.
This concept device seems to be made out of metal and glass. The real Galaxy Fold 2 will offer those very same build materials, almost certainly. The back side of this phone is slightly curved on the sides, but the display is flat.
The Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to arrive on the same day as the Galaxy S20 series. Samsung already scheduled its Unpacked press conference for February 11, while the company teased its upcoming flagships as well.
The Galaxy Fold 2 will be a high-end smartphone. It is expected to offer high-end specs, like its predecessor, but it’s also expected to be a lot cheaper.
