UFC 246 is going down this Saturday, on January 18, and here’s how you can watch it.
This is shaping up to be one of the biggest UFC PPVs of the year, with the only UFC fighter to hold two belts at the same time, taking on the fighter with the most wins in UFC history. It’s sure to be an exciting night, this coming Saturday.
UFC 246 Main Event Preview
This latest UFC PPV marks the return of Connor McGregor after being out of the octagon for over a year.
McGregor will be taking on Donald „Cowboy” Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246. McGregor is the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles at the same time. He’s also the first Irish born UFC champ, first UFC fighter to receive a $1MM fight purse, holds the UFC PPV record for most buys and he also fought Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match in 2017. Which was the second biggest PPV event of all time. He’s regarded as UFC’s biggest start, for better or worse.
His opponent, Cerrone, holds the record for the most UFC wins, most UFC finishes and the most post fight performance bonuses. He’s a BJJ Blackbelt and former Muay Thai champion. Making this a really impressive bout between the two of them.
McGregor is a big draw for UFC, even if he can be controversial a lot of the time. Some interesting stats regarding McGregor and the UFC: out of the top five best selling PPVs, McGregor has headlined 4 of them. His last UFC fight at UFC 229 was the company’s best-selling PPV to date.
The co-main event includes Holly Holm vs Raquel Pennington in a Women’s Bantamweight bout. Holm’s last fight resulted in a loss for her, it was a pretty devastating loss, but she is ready to bounce back against Pennington. Holm is one of only two women in the UFC to defeat Ronda Rousey.
There are three more bouts on the main card, and these include: Maurice Greene vs. Aleksei Oleinik; Claudia Gadelha vs. Alexa Grasso; and Diego Ferreira vs. Anthony Pettis.
