LG had earlier said it will be a no show at the MWC due to the coronavirus. The trade show was later canceled altogether because of the same reason. LG was expected to unveil the LG V60 ThinQ 5G at the tradeshow.
However, the South Korean company will hold separate events to announce new hardware in the near future. It sure seems like the LG V60 ThinQ 5G is ready for showtime, as the device has been allegedly spotted on Geekbench.
LG V60 ThinQ 5G will have 8GB of RAM
The listing doesn’t explicitly mention the device name, but the model number LM-V600N indicates it’s the company’s upcoming 5G flagship. The entry shows that the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. It has 8GB of RAM and runs Android 10.
The phone achieved single-core and multi-core scores of 898 and 3266, respectively. The company will likely optimize the device further, which implies performance will be quite decent.
That said, benchmark scores aren’t necessarily truly reflective of the real-world performance.
As for the launch, LG is yet to give out more details but given the V50 ThinQ was announced in February last year, an announcement is expected soon.
The phone will be launched in select markets
The company has already confirmed that the phone will only be released in North America and Europe. That’s because the manufacturer believes that the consumers in these regions are willing to spend on premium 5G handsets.
This also implies that the phone will not be any cheaper than competing devices from rivals such as Samsung. And without an aggressive pricing strategy, it’s difficult to see how the company plans to make its phone stand out.
The LG V60 has been the subject of many leaks and some alleged specifications are known already. The phone is tipped to get four microphones, which will presumably make the smart assistant on the phone really responsive.
Reports claim that the device will have a quad-camera array, likely consisting of a wide-angle unit, a telephoto module, an ultrawide lens, and a Time-of-Flight module. Detailed camera specifications aren’t known yet.
The company’s dual-screen accessory is tipped to make a comeback with the LG V60 ThinQ 5G with some improvements. And given that the Galaxy Z Flip has started breaking already, this seems like a safer idea. However, it remains to be seen if the improved accessory will offer more in terms of functionality too.
Moving on, the phone might also feature an in-display fingerprint reader.
According to some leaked images, the selfie camera will be towards the middle of the display. It will likely be housed in a notch.
The phone is tipped to have a hefty 5000mAh battery inside which might contribute to its weight and size. LG will likely retain the 3.5mm headphone jack too. The USB-C port will supposedly be at the bottom and the phone might also feature a set of pogo-pin connectors.
We will likely get to hear more rumors regarding the device in the days running up to the launch.
