Google today announced a new set of games coming to the Stadia platform, bringing players all four games in the SteamWorld series.
There’s no mention of a release date yet, but the announcement post says the games are coming soon. The SteamWorld series of games is a bit older with the most recent title in the franchise having launched in 2019.
They’re also indie games, so while some of the bigger AAA titles are waiting to launch, Stadia is filling its library with charming indie offerings. Though the very first SteamWorld game is more than five years old at this point, some may never have had the chance to play it.
And if you fit into that category then you should definitely check these out.
The games coming to Stadia begin with SteamWorld Dig 1 & 2

SteamWorld Dig 1 & 2 is where it all started. Both games are platformers that focus on mining, where you need to collect various materials, increase your riches, and in the first game, uncover the mystery of a big threat to an old mining town.

The story of SteamWorld Dig 2 is fairly similar, but swaps out the main character, and the mining town is now an old trading town where the threat is different. But it’s still up to you to save it.
Both games also feature randomized worlds so things always feel a little bit different and fresh.
Costs haven’t been associated with any of the games yet, but since these are older indie games it’s not likely they’ll cost a whole lot. There’s even a good chance that one or all of them will end up as free games of the month for Pro members at some point.
Mix things up with SteamWorld Heist

The next game out of the four is SteamWorld Heist. Instead of a randomized mining platform adventure, this game is a turn-based strategy game that has action combat.
It’s still the same steam punk theme and all your characters are robots, but instead of digging you’ll be doing some fighting.
Levels are procedurally generated just like in the Dig games. But the core of the gameplay is skill-based instead of chance-based. So there’s more engagement from the player that’s needed.
Play your cards right in SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech

Lastly, there’s SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech. This is a card-based role playing game that is filled with fantasy and adventure.
You lead a party of heroes across the land in search of treasure, glory, and more. Combat is turn-based. But, you don’t choose your attacks like you would in a traditional JRPG. Instead you have a deck full of cards to play that dictate your skills and abilities.
The game also features RPG progression for your characters. Which means you can gain XP and level them up to acquire new skills.
