The OnePlus Z will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765, not the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L. This information comes from Max J., a well-known tipster, who shared the info via Twitter.
The news about the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L surfaced quite some time ago, by Ishan Agarwal, yet another tipster. He did say that he’s not entirely sure about it, so, there you go.
The OnePlus Z will include the Snapdragon 765, as the company probably changed its mind
It is easily possible that OnePlus changed its mind somewhere along the way. This actually makes sense, the Snapdragon 765 is the most powerful mid-range processor Qualcomm has to offer. It makes sense for OnePlus to use it in its mid-range device.
The company uses Qualcomm’s most powerful chip in general in its flagship lineup, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, so it makes sense to use the Snapdragon 765 in the OnePlus Z.
The OnePlus Z was initially called the OnePlus 8 Lite, but OnePlus opted to go with a different name structure, it seems. It will be called the OnePlus Z, and it will launch in July, it seems. That information was also shared by Max J. a couple of days ago.
The OnePlus Z will feature thin bezels, and a centered display hole, unlike its siblings. It will also include a flat display, which is also different in comparison to the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.
The device will be made out of metal and glass, and it will feature a 6.4 or a 6.5-inch display. That will almost certainly be a fullHD+ panel that will run at 90Hz. OnePlus promised that it won’t release any more 60Hz smartphones.
The device will include multiple cameras in the top-left corner of its back. It will ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, an optical one. An alert slider will be included on the right side of the phone, same as on the OnePlus 8 series.
It may include the same main camera as the OnePlus 8
Chances are that the phone will sport a 48-megapixel main camera, same as the OnePlus 8. That has not been confirmed, but we’re guessing as much. It remains to be seen if it will sport IP rating, though.
OnePlus will probably include a relatively large battery on the inside, in addition to its proprietary fast charging. It will probably offer Warp Charge 30T, 30W fast wired charging. Wireless charging probably won’t be included.
The phone will probably be considerably more affordable than its siblings. The Snapdragon 865 and its Snapdragon X55 modem has bumped the price tag of OnePlus 8 series phones.
You can see the sketch of the device in a tweet that Max J. shared, the image is included above this article. We’re still about two months away from the launch of the device, so expect rumors and leaks to intensify in the coming weeks.
