TCL has already been confirmed to enter the US smartphone market with the TCL 10 Pro and TCL 10L smartphones. It is one of the leading TV brands in the world. Now, TCL is set to manufacture smartphones under its own brand instead of making them for other brands like Blackberry and Palm.
The TCL 10 Pro and TCL 10L will be available in the US starting May 19th. While the devices will initially be sold on Amazon, they will be available through Best Buy and Walmart by the end of this month. However, there are no carrier deals as of now in the US.

The company is also planning to sell its smartphones in Canada, Europe, Australia, and the United Kingdom. TCL also showcased its TCL 10 5G but there’s no word on its availability. The TCL 10 Pro and 10L offer best-in-class specifications in their respective price segments.
The TCL 10 Pro priced at $449 sports a 6.47-inch curved AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It packs an 11nm Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage.
In the camera department, there’s a 64-megapixel quad rear camera setup featuring a Samsung GW1 sensor. The waterproof notch on the front includes a 24-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. On the other hand, the TCL 10L is a much cheaper alternative with a 6.53-inch hole-punch display and Snapdragon 665 Mobile Platform.
Can upscale SDR to HDR in real time
It will be available in 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB storage options. The quad camera setup on the TCL 10L offers a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor. Even the front camera has been bumped down to a 16-megapixel sensor. Only the Pro variant supports 18W fast charging, with the latter limited to just 10W.
Both smartphones run on Android 10 with custom UI laid on top. Even more than the cameras and chipset, the company is betting big on the display experience. The devices support HDR10 and can upscale the SDR content to HDR quality in real time using the NXTVISION chip.
Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. The devices also include a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port. According to CNET, the TCL’s 5G smartphone will be made available through carriers. If the company gets a carrier partner it will definitely bring in more exposure to the products.
