The Galaxy Tab S7+ supports 45W charging, unlike the Galaxy Note 20 series. However, in the box, you won’t be getting a 45W charger. You won’t even be getting the same 25W charger that comes with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
Instead, you’re getting a 15W USB-A charger, the same „Adaptive Fast Charge” charger that Samsung has been including with its phones for years.
It will still work with the 25W charger that comes with the Galaxy Note 20 series (the Galaxy S20 and Note 10 series too), so if you have one of those devices, then it’s not a big deal. Just odd that Samsung would not include a 25W charger in the box.
You can still buy the 45W charger from Samsung
If you really want a 45W charger, Samsung will still sell it to you. It’ll cost you $49.99.
That’s actually not to bad for a 45W USB-C PD charger. But unless you really need fast charging for the Galaxy Tab S7+, it may not be worth the money.
It should be able to charge the 10,090mAh capacity battery in the Galaxy Tab S7+ in about two hours. That’s still pretty long, but much shorter than the 15W charger would charge it in. So there’s that at least.
It’s just the latest way that Samsung is trying to squeeze more money out of its customers. And where you are already paying $849 for this tablet, that just seems like an unnecessary expense for some users.
Silver lining is, at least there’s a charger in the box
But hey, at least Samsung is still including a charger in the box. Next year, we may not even get that. As Apple is rumored to be getting rid of the charger in the box with the iPhone. And Samsung is rumored to follow suite.
Sadly, it looks like that is going to be our future. Buying a new smartphone and/or tablet, and not getting a charger in the box.
On the one hand, we probably have a ton of chargers already in the house that we can use to charge the device. But on the other hand, it kind of sucks that you’re spending a grand on a new phone, and there’s not even a charger in the box.
Though, cheap smartphones have been doing this for ages, as a way to make the phone cheaper. Though, that’s not why Apple or Samsung (might) do it.
