Facebook officially announced the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset on September 16, and you can basically buy the headset right now.
Really this is a pre-order since it hasn’t officially released yet. But you can pay for it and have it ready to be shipped out the moment that Oculus begins the actual launch.
If you’re not sure where to buy the Oculus Quest 2, not to worry, we’re here to help. In fact there are multiple places to put in your pre-order, giving you some freedom in which retailer your money goes to.
Where to buy the Oculus Quest 2
It looks like just about everywhere has the Oculus Quest 2 for sale. This includes Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Target, all of which you can find at the link above and the button below.
It’s also available from Walmart and you can find that at the separate button below as well. Or you can pick it up directly from Oculus.
All locations appear to be selling both the 64GB and 256GB models. The 64GB model retails for $299. For only $100 more though you get 256GB of storage which is well over double the amount.
This is an all-in-one headset, so having as much storage as possible is not a bad idea. Especially if you plan to mostly games on this thing. The headset comes with two controllers, one for each hand, the headset, a spacer for glasses, two batteries, a charging cable and an adapter for the controllers.
And because it’s an all-in-one unit you literally don’t need any other hardware to get going and play games or use apps. Everything is built right in.
That being said Oculus does sell the Oculus Link. Which is a cable you can use to connect the Quest 2 to your PC if you want access to even more games through Steam or the Oculus Store. Amazon also offers a bundle which comes with the link if you want it all at once. That bundle retails for $478.
Big improvements over the original Quest headset
There’s a handful of notable improvements on this second-gen headset.
One of those is the new soft-touch strap. This is supposed to make it easier to put on and easier to take off. Say you’re in the middle of a game and then you hear a knock at the door.
You can quickly slip off the headset without fear of missing a package, food, a neighbor or whoever it might be. Then get right back to gaming just as easily.
It also comes with two 2k displays, more ergonomic controllers, hand tracking, and more. The headset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 as well. Which is a platform that Qualcomm designed specifically for VR, AR, and MR headsets.
Overall it’s much more well-rounded and comes with significantly better performance. If you want a jump on getting this into your own hands, you can snag it through a pre-order before it launches in October.
