SteelSeries is releasing yet another headset after cranking out the top-tier Arctis 9, though this new one is technically an updated version of the Arctis 7 rather than a brand-new headset.
Today the company announced the Arctis 7P and Arctis 7X. Compared to the SteelSeries Arctis 7, the Arctis 7P headset is built more for PS5. That being said it still works with PC, as well as with PS4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
The same is true with the Arctis 7X. It was designed more for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. But it will still work with PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices too. Both new headsets are versatile. And both are priced pretty competitively.
The SteelSeries Arctis 7 headset refined
Most of what you’re getting here is the same tech found in the Arctis 7, but refined with a nice little upgrade.
The Arctis 7P and Arctis 7X both use a USB-C transmitter for the lossless, 2.4GHz audio that it feeds into your ears. The Arctis 7, like the Arctis 9 and some other wireless headsets from the company, use a USB-A transmitter.
This USB-C change makes it more viable for mobile. Because you aren’t reliant on the connection working through Bluetooth. While Bluetooth is fine and the audio can be quite good, for gaming, the 2.4GHz connection is better.
One thing to keep in mind is that the standard Arctis 7 still uses the USB-A transmitter. So if you want the USB-C connectivity without an additional adapter, you need to grab one of these newer headsets.
The Arctis 7P even comes with an exclusive color scheme. Naturally, since it was designed for the PS5, the standard colorway matches the colors of the console. So it’s awash in mostly white, with accents of black and blue.
As for the exclusive color, it’s all black with some blue accents. And you can only get this color from SteelSeries directly if you have a SteelSeries.com account.
24-hour battery life and separate dials for voice and game chat
Like just about every other SteelSeries headset both these new ones are Discord-certified. Which means they’ll work excellent for voice chat with your gaming friends. Or whoever you talk to on Discord.
They also feature the same ClearCast retractable microphone, as well as separate dials for voice and game chat. Letting you adjust the volume of both to your perfect levels.
Each headset also has a 24-hour battery life. So you won’t (or shouldn’t) be plugging them in very often. All that of course depends on how long you use them each day. You can already pick up the SteelSeries Arctis 7P and Arctis 7X from the SteelSeries website at $149.99. And they should eventually be available from retail partners like Amazon and Best Buy.
