When Google announced the new Chromecast with Google TV, there were a couple of things that it didn’t include and one of them was an ethernet adapter.
The other was official support for the Stadia app. The latter is still not available and Google hasn’t confirmed when it will be available to download directly from the Play Store. The former however, is another story entirely.
Spotted by Android Police, Google is now selling an ethernet adapter for the new Chromecast with Google TV. It’s available from the Google Store directly, but this seems to be the only place where you can buy it. At least for the moment.
In time, it will probably be available through some of Google’s retail partners. For instance, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart all sell the new Chromecast with Google TV, but not the ethernet adapter.
The ethernet adapter for the new Chromecast with Google TV is $20
While Google may be your only source for this accessory, you’re probably going to need it when Google finally pushes out support for Stadia.
And if you want to snag it you’ll be paying $20 for it. The good news is that you can pick it up from Google right now and it’s in stock. So there’s no waiting list or anything like that. If you pick it up, you have a few different options for shipping.
Keep in mind though that the earliest it will show up on your doorstep appears to be the end of next week. And that’s with the expedited shipping option that costs an additional $16.
If you go that route then you can get it as early as October 22. But if you go with just the standard shipping option, you’re looking at waiting a little longer as Google says it would show up on or around October 28. There are also options to get it between October 25 and October 28, and between October 23 and October 25.
It only comes in one color
Though it probably won’t deter anyone from buying it, the ethernet adapter only comes in one color.
White. If you go with the Chromecast in Snow, then the adapter will match. But you can’t buy the adapter in the other two colors nor is there any indication that Google will make it possible to do so.
Worth noting however is that the adapter is more than likely going to be out of sight completely the entire time. So whether it matches your new Chromecast or not is basically irrelevant. Because you won’t see it anyways.
