Here Are The Improvements For Fortnite On Next-Gen Consoles

Fortnite is one of the most popular games out there and it’s getting some improvements for next-gen consoles. In fact Epic Games just earlier this week showed off the improvements that next-gen consoles will bring the ever popular Fortnite.
Those who play the game on the upcoming Xbox Series X and the Sony PS5 will be in for a few treats. Not the least of which will be new features. Of course those looking for smoother gameplay can also expect improved performance. Though, that is to be expected since both consoles will be more powerful than their predecessors.
The Xbox Series X launches next week on November 10, and the PS5 launches next week on November 12. In addition to that Fortnite will be one of the games that you can play on either console on day 1 of launch. Since it’s also free-to-play it’s also going to have a very low barrier of entry.
Fortnite on next-gen consoles will run at 60fps
One thing that isn’t changing about Fortnite even on the Xbox Series X and the PS5, is the framerate.
The game has run at 60fps on consoles since it was released and it hasn’t changed. It does support higher framerates on PC and mobile. Though on mobile devices, at least with Android, the higher framerate was a timed exclusive for OnePlus devices.
Framerate aside, if you’re playing Fortnite on the Series X or PS5, you’ll get higher resolution visuals at 4K. Whereas Series S owners will be limited to 1080p visuals.
Epic also promises that the game will have various other graphical improvements like dynamic landscape details. This includes explosions, and likely other damage, impacting grass, trees, and the surrounding environment.
Faster matchmaking for more games in the same amount of time
Matchmaking can be a bit of a pain if it’s taking too long. But Epic is saying that on the new consoles, Fortnite will have faster matchmaking so you aren’t waiting as long in between matches. Which means more game time.
Players can also expect cooler looking visual effects for things like smoke and fluid, and potentially other details, as well as split-screen 60fps.
If you’re playing on a PS5, you get some exclusive benefits that take advantage of the DualSense controller’s unique features. The adaptive triggers will play a role in how much pressure you need to give the trigger to use certain weapons and items. Haptic trigger feedback will also be present for things like bolt action snipers.
