New Device Settings Menu In The Google Home App Is Rolling Out Widely

Last week’s Google Home app update introduced a redesigned device settings menu. It was then available only for the Nest Hub Max and that too for limited users. According to 9to5Google, the new device settings menu in the Google Home app is now rolling out widely. Still, it is limited to the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max displays.
As of now, the other smart home devices from Google, like the Nest Mini and Nest Audio, are yet to offer this new menu. Unlike the recent significant UI changes, this new design change is very subtle. However, it will likely make a big impact once more devices are added.
Google Home app’s redesigned device settings menu now available for more users
If you have the Google Home app linked to the Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max, update it to the latest version on the Google Play Store to see the latest changes. Once the device is selected from the home screen of the Google Home app, tap on the gear icon in the top right corner to view device settings.
The redesigned UI here shows two sections — General and Device features. Prior to this, the app had a never-ending list of different settings. Now, these are all organized to allow the user to find the option in a couple of taps.
The General section at the top includes device information, recognition and sharing, and notifications and digital wellbeing. When users tap on the device information option, it will show the firmware version, IP/MAC addresses, and other details.
More smart home devices might be supported soon
This section will also include an option for participating in the Preview program. These options should be common for most Google devices. For Nest Hub Max users, the option to enable or disable the newly added dark mode can be found in the 'Notifications and Digital Wellbeing’ menu.
Users can also activate DND and downtime on a supported device from this menu. The device features section will show options that are more specific to the product. The options will be completely different if you select devices like a security camera or a thermostat.
For example, the Nest Hub Max in the current version of the app has photo frame, display, audio, video and voice calling, and nest cam options. The update released in early October made changes to the Routines menu. Back in August, Google added dark mode to the Google Home app, and it made a big difference.
