The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum has an official launch date, ending a years-long delay that pushed the game back from its original release of 2021. The game was announced back in 2019, but was met with a delay following the pandemic. Causing slow development progression.
Luckily for fans, that delay is now a distant memory and the wait is almost over. The Lord of The Rings: Gollum has a new launch date of May 25. That’s just two months from now, and as long as there’s no further delays, players will get their chance to take on the role of Gollum in this stealth action-adventure game in the not-too-distant future.
With this being a stealth-heavy game, there should be a lot less combat than the Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War titles. But players will still be treated to familiar characters and a familiar setting. Given the game still takes place in Middle-Earth.
The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Just about every platform is getting a version of this game once it releases in two months. As it’ll be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Only Nintendo fans are left out here. Though, not forever. A Nintendo Switch release of the game is coming, just not till later in 2023.
The game is also available for pre-order right now if you’re eagerly awaiting the release and want to be ready for it. And if you missed the story trailer that came out a couple of weeks ago, you can check it out above. The story of The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum is “previously untold.” So the narrative should give fans some new, interesting perspective on Gollum (Smeagol). You can also check out the gameplay showcase from Nacon below. Which actually gives a pretty in-depth look at the game from the player’s standpoint.
