Summary: Adobe has launched Premiere Pro 25.2, bringing an AI-powered video extender called Generative Extend, advanced search capabilities, automatic translation of video captions, and more. The standout tool among all is the Generative Extend, which allows you to extend video footage by up to two seconds and is currently free to use for a limited time.
In the past few months, Adobe has been updating Premiere Pro with a few new AI features. Today, the company has announced the general availability of tools for extending, finding, and translating videos with the launch of Premiere Pro version 25.2. All these AI-powered tools will help you with faster and better video editing results.
Adobe has finally added the AI video extender tool with the launch of Premiere Pro 25.2
One of the key AI tools that Adobe dropped today is Generative Extend. In October, the company announced it as one of many tools powered by the in-house Firefly Gen AI video model. As the name suggests, Generative Extend lets you extend your video clips by up to two seconds.
This way, you can always rectify unexpected movements within the video and use more transition options. What’s interesting is that this tool lets you generate video clips in 4K quality. You’ll also be able to extend ambient background audio up to ten seconds for audio alone.
If you choose to extend ambient audio paired with video extension, the capped limit is two seconds. However, it won’t extend music or speech. The company is currently offering the tool for free, but you’ll be charged Firefly generative credits down the line. Adobe, in its announcement post, mentions that “price will vary based on the format, frame rate, and resolution of your video.”
A few new AI features have also been introduced as part of the update
Moving on, the latest update to Adobe Premiere Pro also adds the new AI-powered Search panel. This tool lets users search for video footage based on the provided text descriptions. Your description may include details about objects, camera angles, location, and effects. The next tool is the Premiere Color Management Tool. It automatically converts log and raw files to SDR and HDR without lookup tables, and ensures that you can always jump into editing with three wide-gamut presets alongside.
Starting today, Premiere Pro can automatically translate video captions in 27 different languages using AI. You’ll also be able to show multiple caption tracks at the same time during the editing process. The latest update to Premiere Pro also offers better speed and performance across Apple and Windows devices.
Not to forget, the creative tech giant has also launched After Effects 25.2. It brings support for 3D FBX models, animated environment, and light effects, and provides new HDR monitoring capabilities and animation controls. Finally, you have a new High Performance Preview Playback feature that makes it easier for you to preview longer compositions.
