Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Nears Launch: Software Testing Kicks Off

Samsung is reportedly planning to add a new model to its popular Fan Edition lineup. The company could launch the new Galaxy S25 FE before the end of 2025. Before the official announcement, a tipster recently spotted the alleged Galaxy S25 FE in the database of the benchmarking app Geekbench. The brand has now kicked off software testing for the Galaxy S25 FE, which suggests the phone is getting closer to launch.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE running One UI 8 under testing

Samsung has started testing the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE’s One UI software, suggests data recently found by the X user @alfaturk16 on the company’s servers. The listing doesn’t mention the One UI software version for the handset. However, reports claim that the company will launch it running Android 16 and One UI 8 out of the box.

The tipster has spotted the global version of the Galaxy S25 FE that carries the model number SM-S731B. The new leak identified the test One UI software under the build number S731BXXU0AYFB, but it didn’t reveal any other details about the device.

The Galaxy S25 FE could bring thinner bezels, but chips and cameras

Recently, some purported renders of the Galaxy S25 FE indicated that the device could have slimmer display bezels. Unfortunately, the phone’s listing on Geekbench suggested that Samsung will power the device with the Exynos 2400e processor, which also powers last year’s Galaxy S24 FE. Furthermore, the Geekbench data suggested that the phone will have the Samsung Xclipse 940 GPU. One of the variants of the handset will have 8GB of RAM.

On the good side, Samsung could upgrade the Galaxy S25 FE’s selfie camera to 12MP, up from 10MP on the predecessor. Unfortunately, the reports indicate that the rear cameras of the phone will remain the same as the S24 FE, including a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide-angle shooter. So, specs wise, we could be looking at a device practically identical to its predecessor.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24 FE in September last year. The company could launch the successor around the same time this year. Since there’s quite some time for the launch, we are sure the rumor mill will share more details about the device in the coming days.
