Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Flip 7’s Battery Capacity and Endurance Ratings Leaked

Samsung will host its next Unpacked event in New York City on July 9th to launch its latest foldable smartphones. There, the brand could announce as many as three new foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE. Ahead of the official announcement, a handful of details about the new handsets have already leaked. A major leak has now revealed the battery capacity, endurance ratings, and more details about the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE.

Tech publication YTECHB has spotted and shared the EU labels and battery information for the upcoming foldables from Samsung. It appears the new book-style foldable, the Z Fold 7, won’t get a battery upgrade, while the new clamshell offering could get a slightly bigger power cell.

Samsung’s new book-style foldable is going to disappoint in two key aspects

If the new leak is true, Samsung’s upcoming Z Fold 7 is going to disappoint in two key aspects: battery and IP rating. As per the source, the new book-style foldable will have a rated battery capacity of 4,272mAh. Samsung marketed the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a 4,400mAh battery, but the actual capacity was around 4,273mAh. Unfortunately, the company may not also upgrade the charging speeds with the new foldable and limit it to 25W, just like the Z Fold 6.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s leaked specs sheet suggests that its battery can retain 80% health for up to 2,000 charging cycles. It seems that Samsung will market a usage time of up to 40 hours and 28 minutes on one charge.

Another disappointment suggested by the new leak is the IP rating of the Z Fold 7. It will reportedly continue to have an IP48 rating, like its predecessor. This rating means that the device will only be able to keep out larger dust particles and offer much lower protection against water than an IP68 rating.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 could get a slightly bigger power cell

Moving on to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the new leak suggests that Samsung will equip it with a rated battery capacity of 4,174mAh. Samsung could market the device with a 4,300mAh battery, which is slightly bigger than the Z Flip 6’s 4,000mAh unit. As for the endurance rating, the source suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s battery will retain 80% of its capacity until 2,000 charging cycles. Its battery will last up to 42 hours and four minutes on a single charge, according to Samsung.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s more affordable foldable, presumably dubbed the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, will have a rated battery capacity of 3,887mAh. This one could last up to 37 hours on a single charge. Furthermore, the leak indicates the battery will retain 80% health for 1,700 charge cycles.

Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE will also offer an IP48 rating, suggests the source. Since the launch event is just around the corner, we’ll have their official specs in a matter of days, so stay tuned.
