Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 & Dimensity 9500 Price to Stay Under Control

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and MediaTek Dimensity 9500, the flagship mobile chipsets of the respective brands, are in the works. The chipsets are expected to launch officially in the last quarter of this year. But ahead of that, we have new information that claims that the price of these flagship chipsets is not going to increase much.

No Major Price Increase for Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500

Qualcomm and MediaTek are both working on their 2025 flagship mobile chips. The chipsets are expected to be announced officially later this year. But unlike the predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoCs are not going to see “a lot” price increase.

For reference, the Snapdragon 8 Elite was priced a lot higher compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, that is not going to happen with the upcoming chipset. Popular tipster Digital Chat Station says on his Weibo post that the prices of the upcoming MediaTek and Snapdragon flagship chipsets are not going to “increase much.”

This may have some positive outcomes for the flagships

Qualcomm had earlier planned the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 with Samsung’s 2nm tech, but that was cancelled. Both the flagship mobile chips are now going to stay on TSMC’s 3nm node. However, the process has been shifted from the N3E node to the N3P node. This allows the manufacturers to push their chipsets for better performance while maintaining good power efficiency. The new node is obviously going to cost more than the old tech. But as per the tipster, the margin of price increase is not much.

The tipster, however, says that the cost of LPDDR5X RAM is going to increase by 5%. Now, how this will affect the smartphone industry is yet to be seen. But if the manufacturers are able to secure a decent margin with the new prices, we can expect 2026 flagships to carry some good improvements. Some flagships may get cheaper as well.
