The rumors were true, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is seeing a price increase. Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 price will start at $349 for the 40mm and $379 for the 44mm. That is a $50 increase over the Galaxy Watch 7 series, which itself was a $20 increase over the Watch 6 series.
The Galaxy Watch 8 price is $349 for the WiFi/Bluetooth model, with the LTE model costing $399. That’s $50 more for cellular connectivity, on top of whatever your carrier will charge you.
Samsung will be offering a boatload of different bands this year, in athleisure, fabric and sport bands, which will be available in a ton of colors. These will be available to purchase separately, and that’s important. That’s because the Galaxy Watch 8 is using the new Dynamic Lug. This means that traditional watch bands are no longer supported on the Galaxy Watch 8. Though there will be adapters available on Amazon. Additionally, Galaxy Watch Ultra bands will not be compatible, only Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic bands.
Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 will be available starting today, July 9. If you did do the Galaxy Reserve ahead of Unpacked, you can use that $50 credit towards the Galaxy Watch 8.
Galaxy Watch 8 also brings loads of new features
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 is also bringing a ton of new features that should trickle down to the older models, but that’s not a 100% guarantee. This includes the new Running Coach, Antioxidant Index, Vascular Load, and Bedtime Guidance.
The Galaxy Watch 8 series is also the first smartwatch to launch with Wear OS 6. In fact, no other watch has received the update or even a beta of Wear OS 6 just yet. It’s also the first to bring Gemini to the wrist, something that Google announced at Google I/O back in May.
