Samsung's 2024 Smart TVs Power Up with Tizen 9

Samsung has launched a few new OLED TVs this year with AI features and the upgraded Tizen 9.0 operating system. If you have one of the Samsung TVs from last year and are waiting for the Tizen 9 update, there’s some good news for you. According to a report, Samsung has started rolling out the Tizen 9 update to Samsung’s 2024 TV lineups, starting in Europe.

Some of last year’s Samsung TV models are receiving the Tizen 9 update

In a report published earlier this month, Flatpanels noted that Samsung’s 2024 TV owners in Europe have started receiving the firmware version 2106.0. The firmware update reportedly bumps the OS from Tizen 8.0 to Tizen 9.0. Now you must be wondering, which Samsung 2024 TV models are getting this upgrade?

At the time of writing, the update has reached at least twelve 2024 Samsung TV models, first in Europe. First, you have Samsung’s 2024 OLED TV models, like S85D, S90D, and S95D. The Tizen 9 update is also rolling out to last year’s Samsung 8K Mini-LED TV models, including the QN900D and QN800D.

If you live in Europe and own Samsung’s 2025 Mini-LED series TV models like QN85D, QN90D, and QN95D, don’t forget to check for the Tizen 9 update. Samsung’s QLED TV models from 2024, including the Q60D, Q70D, and Q80D, have also reportedly received the latest Tizen update. Not to forget, that list also includes Samsung’s 2024 version of “The Frame” model.

While 2024 Samsung TV owners from Europe can enjoy the latest OS, users from other regions have to wait. We expect Samsung to kick off the latest Tizen update to last year’s TV models in the US in the coming weeks. However, there’s no official word from the tech giant on this matter just yet.

Here’s what to expect

For the uninitiated, the Tizen 9 update brings a neat design change and a few tweaks to its settings menus. One notable change you’d find in the Tizen 9-powered Samsung TVs is a more zoomed-in look. Thanks to this change, all the necessary information appears much closer, giving the TV interface a cleaner look. Speaking of settings, you can now resize the menu and adjust the transparency as per your needs.
