Samsung Is Considering Built-in Qi2 Magnets for Future Phones

Samsung was one of the first smartphone makers to include wireless charging capabilities in its phones. The company’s latest Galaxy S25 series, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 all support Qi2 wireless charging. Unfortunately, they are only Qi2-ready phones, which means the users need a special charging case, as there are no Qi2 magnets inside them. However, Samsung seems to be considering including built-in Qi2 magnets in its future Galaxy phones to offer proper wireless charging.

Samsung is seeking user feedback about integrating Qi2 magnets inside future phones

Samsung is running an online survey, asking consumers about adding built-in Qi2 magnets in its future Galaxy phones, as per a report by SammyGuru. Adding a Qi2 magnet inside a phone would result in a thicker build, and one of the questions Samsung is asking in the survey includes this information as well.

In the question, users can choose options like a 0.3mm or 0.5mm increased thickness or reject the idea outright. The series of questions strongly suggests Samsung is considering adding built-in Qi2 magnets inside its future Galaxy phones.

The survey also hints that some future Galaxy phones could lack wired charging

It’s worth mentioning that a couple of questions in the online survey raise the possibility of the company dropping wired charging in favor of wireless charging only. One of the questions asks users about the biggest inconvenience if a device only supports wireless charging. Options for answers to that question include problems while charging the device during an outing, slow charging speeds, and inconvenience while using it while it’s charging wirelessly.

These questions hint that Samsung might be exploring the possibility of going all wireless in some of the future Galaxy phones. After the 3.5mm audio jack, the company could drop the USB Type-C port from some smartphones. However, we don’t think it’ll happen any time soon, as the Type-C port also helps users in seamless and faster data transfer across devices. Some questions in the survey also ask about data transfer habits for better user feedback.

Some reports indicate that Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series of smartphones could finally feature built-in Qi2 wireless charging magnets. Since Samsung isn’t planning to launch the S26 series anytime before Q1 2026, the rumor mill has a lot of time to provide some details on the matter.
