In a recent report, Honor announced that its latest foldable smartphone has recorded stronger initial sales in Europe compared to its predecessor, the Magic V3. According to the company, first-week sales for the Honor Magic V5 were 75% higher than those of the Magic V3. The company also highlights notable performance in both online and offline retail channels.
This early success reinforces the brand’s position in the European foldable market. There, the firm has reportedly tripled its market share to 34% as the fastest-growing manufacturer of book-style foldable phones in the region.
Honor’s market share triples in Europe thanks to the new Magic V5
The Magic V5 boasts several technical and design features. The company claims the device to be the world’s thinnest foldable phone, a claim that Samsung disagrees with. Going back to Honor’s device, it incorporates durability with IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance. In fact, the phone has a Guinness World Record for being the suspended foldable phone that lifted the heaviest weight. For its internal components, the Magic V5 equips a 5,820mAh silicon-carbon battery.
The device’s display and user interface are also key components. The phone features a 7.95-inch inner display and a 6.43-inch outer screen, both with stylus input capabilities. The software includes a Multi-Flex mode, which allows for simultaneous use of up to three applications, enhancing the device’s multitasking capabilities. The camera system, dubbed the “AI Falcon Camera System,” includes a 64-megapixel ultra-sensing periscope telephoto lens. The device also packs 16GB of RAM and comes in three storage options, up to 1TB.
The Magic V5 is positioned as a competitive offering in the high-end foldable market. The reported sales data indicates a strong consumer interest in advanced, AI-powered foldable devices, a sentiment echoed by Adam Cao, President of Honor Western Europe. The device is available in multiple colors, including Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. Pricing for the 16GB + 512GB model starts at €1,999 in Europe.
