Android has long been a favored device for game emulation of all types, save for the Nintendo Switch these days, at least until the recent release of the Eden emulator. Once upon a time, there were a few different Nintendo Switch emulators available on the Play Store, but Nintendo has gotten many of them removed, including the Android version of Yuzu, after Nintendo had Yuzu taken down completely. Now, Eden has risen to fill the void left by the options that were once available. For how long remains to be seen.

Eden Emulator for Android lets you play your Nintendo Switch games on your mobile device to your heart’s content. That being said, you’ll need a few things before you can really dive in. The first being a device that runs on at least Android 11. You will also need a pretty powerful phone to make the games run smoothly.

While we can’t say for sure where the minimum spec requirements might lie, it’s recommended that your device is as powerful as possible. It’s highly likely that anything that’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or later should be just fine. Devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 may be alright as well. Though we have no way of knowing for sure. If you’re running a device with a Snapdragon 8 Elite, you’re probably golden. For example, if you’re using a Galaxy S25 Ultra, it should handle Eden just fine.

The Eden Emulator for Android is a forked version of Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu

It won’t be quite like having Yuzu up and running. However, if you were a fan of how Yuzu operated, this should be a close approximation. As this is a forked version of the Yuzu Emulator. Eden’s developers say that they’re focusing on high performance without compromising on aesthetics, compatibility, or stability. So the goal is to ensure as many people as possible can play with the app. Keep in mind, however, compatibility can only go so far. As Eden’s ability to run will demand a certain type of hardware. This is made obvious in the comments on the Play Store.

It’s worth noting that the Eden Emulator is only the vessel through which you can play Switch games on your mobile device. It contains no ROM files or any of the other necessary files for a game. Setting all that up can be a bit of a complex process, so you’ll have to figure all that out. But for a free app that gets you started, a little research on the user’s part is certainly fair.
