Garmin has announced three new smartwatches this week, including the Bounce 2, a new kids smartwatch that offers security and peace of mind for parents. There are also two new watches for adults. One of these is the new Instinct Crossover AMOLED. This is essentially the same as the Instinct Crossover, but now with an AMOLED display for clearer visibility regardless of whether it’s day or night. Lastly, there’s the new Venu 4, which comes with several upgrades compared to previous models.
When it comes to the Instinct Crossover AMOLED, the major difference is that it now has an AMOLED display. This new display is full color as opposed to the black and white of the standard model. The standard model does have luminescent analog hands and hour markers, but the rest of the display is monochrome with no color. The new AMOLED model adds full color, which is more visibly vibrant, and will make it easier to see at all times of the day. It also still has the luminescent analog hands and hour markers, so you don’t have to give that up. This watch also includes an LED flashlight and up to 14 days of battery life. This makes it a great option for anyone who hates charging things daily. The watch retails for $649.99, but Garmin also offers a Tacitcal model that retails for $749.99.
If communication is a concern, the Garmin Bounce 2 lets you “delay the smartphone”
Smartwatches for kids aren’t a new type of product; however, they don’t all offer the same kind of experience. Some are only used for tracking your kids so you always know where they are. The Garmin Bounce 2 is a bit different because it also offers two-way calling. For some parents, this might be a good solution to keep in contact with their kids while also avoiding getting them a smartphone right away.
Garmin says the new watch is capable of two-way voice calling, voice messages, and voice texts. Parents can also use it for voice message transcriptions and for real-time location tracking. In short, it more or less offers everything you might want a smartwatch for your kids to offer. It only has 2 days of battery life, so you’ll need to make sure it’s charged every couple of days. Price-wise, it retails for $299.99.
Lastly is the Venu 4 which is arguably going to be Garmin’s most popular out of the three. The Venu line has been around for more than a few years now. This latest version offers a variety of upgrades, not the least of which is the Lifestyle Logging feature. You can use this to log specific data that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to account for. Such as coffee or alcohol consumption. This feature can then tell you how these lifestyle choices impact things like your sleep.
Additionally, the Venu 4 now offers advanced sleep metrics. Specifically, it can now tell you how aligned your body is to its inner sleep cycle using the circadian rhythm. The Garmin Venu 4 retails for $549.99 and will be available on September 22. The other two watches are already available.
