The price of AT&T home internet services rises by $5 a month starting December 1st. It’s giving the obvious operational costs as the reason for the change in price. The carrier is informing its customers of the price hike via email. To recall, AT&T raised the prices by $5 a month in November 2024.
AT&T is increasing its home Internet prices
The new price hike doesn’t affect customers who subscribed in the last year or those through the Access from AT&T program for low-income households, an AT&T spokesperson told The Verge.
“To keep giving you the high-quality service you expect, we need to adjust our internet plan prices as our business needs change and costs go up. Starting December 1, 2025, the monthly price for AT&T Fiber and AT&T Internet service will go up by $5,” an AT&T support page reads.
AT&T is offering discounts on autopay and paperless payment methods. Customers can get $10 off each month on signing up for autopay via bank account or $5 via debit card. There’s a $5/month discount on the AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi. AT&T says these discounts will be reflected within the first two bill periods.
Some customers feel it’s worth it
AT&T customers on Reddit are venting out their frustration about the rise in price of the home internet plans. One user opines that “corporate greed” leads to these price hikes. While others opined that they should be grateful they have a fiber connection. “I’d kill to even get cable, much less fiber. Rural life is not for tech people,” one user said. Another person said, “It’s worth it. My AT&T fiber is insanely fast and reliable.”
There’s a common opinion that home internet prices are steadily rising, despite no notable improvements in connectivity. As per a study published earlier this year by CNET and the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society, nearly 63% of US adults saw a spike in their internet bills in 2024. On average, they paid $195 more than in 2023, and almost half experienced unreliable connectivity.
