Google Photos to Get 'Create' Tab: Your New Editing Hub

Get ready for a more streamlined and intuitive experience in Google‘s media management app. It looks like Google Photos is gearing up to introduce a brand new “Create” tab, designed to bring all your photo and video creation tools into one handy spot.

This upcoming change, recently spotted by the Android Authority team in an APK teardown of the Google Photos 7.36 version, promises to make turning your memories into masterpieces even easier.

Google Photos’ upcoming “Create” Tab

Currently, if you want to make a collage, a cinematic photo, or an animation in Google Photos, you typically tap the “+” icon and then pick your tool. While functional, it can feel a little scattered. The new “Create” tab aims to consolidate all these options, giving you a dedicated hub for all things creative.

Imagine having quick-to-almost-instant access to all of Photo’s useful editing features. The list includes Collage, Highlight video, and Cinematic photo. There’s also space for the upcoming “Photo to video” and “Remix” image-animator AI tools.

Google likely has some goals with this potential realignment. First, it wants to make the media editing and content creation process easier. Users will now have to tap and tap less to find the creative option they’re looking for. Second, making its own AI-powered features, whose free use has limitations—such as the upcoming image animation ones—could help convince users to subscribe to Google’s paid AI plan.

It is worth noting that since this tab was found in an APK teardown, it is still under development. This means there could be further tweaks and changes before it officially rolls out to everyone. For now, there are no details on when the new tab could arrive in the stable app.
