Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 has leaked in a hands-on video showcasing what seems to be both a prototype piece of hardware and a potentially final iteration of the upcoming handheld. In fact, this is likely the same prototype hardware that Lenovo teased earlier this year. The Legion Go 2 prototype was first shown off during CES 2025.
Lenovo didn’t share all the details on this upcoming handheld gaming PC, but it did show a few images of the design. Surprisingly, it doesn’t look too different from the original Legion Go. Only, it does appear to have a few design tweaks that make this more like the recently-released Legion Go S. Lenovo also revealed this handheld at the convention. Although Lenovo hasn’t officially launched the device, many of the specifications seem to be exactly what the company mentioned back in January. It goes without saying, of course, that things may change. In fact, at least one component is slightly different from what Lenovo described earlier this year.
The Legion Go 2 hands-on leak confirms no Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip
Back when Lenovo teased this device at CES, the company confirmed it would have an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip inside. According to this hands-on video, which comes from YouTube content creator in yo, the handheld only comes with a Ryzen Z2 chip. It’s worth keeping in mind that Lenovo clarified specs shared during CES were unfinalized. So, it’s entirely possible that it had intentions of using the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, and had later decided to go with the non-extreme version. The other possible scenario is that Lenovo will have both a non-extreme and an extreme model. It’s unclear at this time.
Other specs were confirmed and line up with what Lenovo mentioned a few months ago. Including the OLED display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. It also features 32GB of RAM, a 2TB SSD, variable refresh rate, and a 75Wh battery. It’s an upgrade from the original Legion Go in many ways, but also a slight step down from the Xbox ROG Ally X. At least in this form.
With Lenovo officially teasing the device back in January and a hands-on video of a working unit now out in the world, there’s a good chance the Legion Go 2 is nearing a launch. Lenovo also has a good opportunity here to price the Legion Go 2 competitively against ASUS’s upcoming Xbox ROG Ally X, which it will no doubt be competing with.
