Apple announced iOS 26 at WWDC 2025 back in June. This is Apple’s next major iOS update. The company has released the developer preview, which, as the name suggests, is aimed more towards developers to help familiarize them with the changes. But if you’re an end user, we have some good news: the public beta for iOS 26 could drop tomorrow.
iOS 26 public beta coming tomorrow?
This is not the first time that it has been rumored that the iOS 26 public beta could arrive on the 23rd of July. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has a solid reputation and excellent track record, had previously said that it would. Now, another report from an anonymous account on X, which has in the past been pretty accurate as well, is claiming the same thing.
For those unfamiliar, the difference between the developer preview and public beta is the audience Apple is targeting. The developer preview allows developers to check out the new features. It also lets developers test their apps to ensure compatibility. The public beta, on the other hand, is aimed at the public.
This is where Apple is confident enough in the update to release it to the masses. There will still be bugs, don’t get us wrong. However, it should be stable enough for users to install. Do we recommend you install the public beta? It depends. If you have another iPhone to spare, you could. However, maybe skip it if you don’t have a spare iPhone.
This is because bugs are still there, and app compatibility could pose a problem. But if you’re curious, you can always check it out to get an idea of the changes that are coming. Apple hasn’t indicated when iOS 26 will be released. However, Apple usually releases its major iOS update alongside its new iPhones. So, expect the final release to be somewhere around September.
What’s new in iOS 26?
One of the biggest changes in iOS 26 is its design. Apple hasn’t really made any major design changes since it introduced iOS 7. There have been some changes here and there, but we’d like to think of them more as tweaks rather than an overhaul. However, iOS 26 introduces a brand-new UI that Apple is calling Liquid Glass.
It features a glossy-looking interface reminiscent of glass. The initial version Apple showed was extremely glossy and transparent. However, in the subsequent developer previews, Apple has scaled it back in response to feedback.
