The launch date for the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X has now leaked, and it appears to be pretty close, as a new rumor states that it will be launching in the next few months. ASUS officially announced the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds earlier this year, but didn’t give any information out about release dates or pricing. That has left those curious about the Xbox-branded Ally series wondering when they could get their hands on this revamped version of ASUS’s popular gaming handheld. Not to mention how much it would cost them.
While there’s still no confirmation from ASUS about either of those details, rumors are now floating around about both.
The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will launch on October 16
There were already rumors about a potential October release window, but now there’s an exact date to go along with that. That date appears to be October 16, according to Billbil-kun from Dealabs. Billbil-kun is pretty well-known for insider rumors of this nature, so this is about as accurate as information may get short of an official confirmation from ASUS about the date.
It is worth noting that this launch date is not necessarily a global launch date. The report says that this is the timing for the European market. That means there is a chance the launch date could be different for the US and other markets outside of Europe. There’s a pretty good chance that ASUS will launch the two new handhelds globally on the same day, too.
Pricing is rumored to start at €599
In addition to the launch date, the price has also recently been rumored, and it seems like it’ll start at €599. This will be for the ROG Xbox Ally model, while the ROG Xbox Ally X will be €899. North American pricing is still unclear, but chances are it’ll be close to these price points. So, potentially $599 and $899 for the US. These prices wouldn’t be much different from the standard ROG Ally and ROG Ally X, and it would make sense for ASUS to charge a similar amount, given that a lot of the components and specs are similar. In terms of performance, it’ll be interesting to see how the new Xbox versions compare to the non-Xbox versions, as well as other handhelds like the Lenovo Legion Go S.
