MediaTek’s next-gen flagship smartphone processor, the Dimensity 9500, has been the subject of a lot of headlines lately. Geekbench already leaked the purported performance scores of the new SoC a couple of months ago. Just last week, a gadget leaker revealed some details about the graphics processing power of the upcoming MediaTek SoC. A reliable tipster from China has now shared the alleged launch date of the Dimensity 9500 chip.
MediaTek tipped to launch Dimensity 9500 SoC a day before next Qualcomm’s flagship
According to the Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, MediaTek will host an event on September 22 to launch the Dimensity 9500 flagship processor. The company will gain an upper hand over Qualcomm, which plans to launch its next big Snapdragon SoC on September 23. We can expect MediaTek to make an official announcement regarding the new chipset’s launch date in a few days.
Here’s what we know so far
If we believe the reports, MediaTek’s next-gen Dimensity 9500 SoC will be significantly more powerful than the 9400 chip. The processor allegedly managed to score 3,900+ points in Geekbench 6’s single-core test and over 11,000 points in multi-core tests. The Dimensity 9400 chip achieves around 2,900+ points on the benchmarking tool’s single-core test and over 9,200 points in the multi-core run.
MediaTek will reportedly ditch the ‘1+3+4’ CPU architecture belonging to the Dimensity 9,400 SoC. The rumor mill suggests that the 9500 SoC will go for a ‘2+6’ core cluster. As for the GPU, the reports indicate that the new processor will have an Immortalis Drage GPU, which will offer reduced power consumption and enhanced ray tracing.
That said, the first smartphones to utilize the Dimensity 9500 SoC will arrive as soon as September. Vivo’s X300 series of devices could be the first to have the new chip from MediaTek. Additionally, OPPO’s Find X9 series launching in either September or October could also offer the same chipset—only time will tell.
