Apple‘s upcoming iPhone 17 series is already on the verge of getting expensive, as President Trump announces a 50% tariff on Indian imports. And now, T-Mobile has made a change to its trade-in policy that could make your iPhone upgrade even more expensive.
Purchasing an iPhone 17 via T-Mobile trade-in will get more expensive
Flagship devices are already expensive. And because of the higher price tag, many consumers get the devices through financing. Some get it using easy finance on a credit card, while others use the carrier financing services. T-Mobile’s trade-in was one of the easiest ways for users to get the iPhone or Android flagships with some really good discounts.
Due to T-Mobile’s any-condition trade-in policy let some users can get a new device for almost nothing. But as we move forward with 2025 iPhones, the smartphone carrier has reportedly scrapped its policy of offering any-condition trade-ins. This means that if you are planning to buy the iPhone 17 series model using T-Mobile’s trade-in, you might have to rethink your decision, as your purchase might become more expensive.
The policy is yet to go live, but it won’t take too long
One of the employees of T-Mobile, Jackwilliansv, has posted on Reddit claiming that T-Mobile will no longer allow any condition trade-ins. The brand has not yet officially communicated the change. But since the words are coming from one of the verified employees of the brand, we can pretty much rely on the information.
Any condition trade-in was one of the best services by the operator, wherein it would allow any device, in any condition, for an exchange. This means that users could save some decent bucks by trading off the leftover or broken handsets. But sadly, it won’t be possible anymore. Why the company has decided to scrap the plan and when the new policy will go live remains a mystery. However, as of today, the any condition trade-in is live on its website, but it will likely vanish by the time the iPhone 17 series goes for sale.
