It’s not hidden anymore that Samsung has an Android XR headset in its pipeline. There have been a few leaks and reports about the upcoming headset. In June, a report from South Korea hinted that Samsung projects to ship 100,000 units. Now, we have some details about the price of Samsung’s Android XR headset, thanks to a new report by a Korean news outlet, Newsworks.
That’s not all; the report has also spilled the apparent release date of Samsung’s Android XR headset, aka “Project Moohan.”
Leaked price tag and launch date of Samsung’s Android XR headset
Per the report, Samsung’s Android XR headset will launch with a price tag of between 2.5 million and 4 million won. If we have to convert this into US dollars, that number comes up as $1,800 to $2,800. No wonder it isn’t affordable by any means.
However, if true, it will still cost less than that of Apple’s Vision Pro, which sets you back by $3,500. In comparison to Meta’s Quest 3, the price of Samsung’s Android XR headset will be roughly 4 times higher. Besides the price, the report suggests that Samsung’s XR headset will be available to buy in South Korea on October 13.
While the launch window had been floating around in reports, the exact date remained under wraps until now. Do note that this date doesn’t apply to the rest of the regions where Samsung sells its products. Not to forget, Samsung is reportedly also planning an additional Unpacked event limited to Korea on September 29. That’s where the company will detail everything about its Android XR headset.
New smart glasses reportedly coming next year
Samsung might also launch smart glasses next year. According to leaks and rumors, there will be two models, one with a display and another without. However, we haven’t heard anything about the price tag or the launch window of those smart glasses. Moreover, Samsung is also reportedly working on an affordable sibling of the Android XR headset that it will launch as part of the XREAL lineup.
