A new Battlefield 6 map has leaked in a video that was posted online over the weekend, showcasing what appears to be a sprawling map with a wide-open layout. Having said that, there are a few key factors to consider.

The footage, which comes from a user on Bilibili named Misaka_Mikoto_01, also recently leaked details of the battle royale mode in Battlefield 6. So there could be some weight behind it. It’s also unclear when this footage was recorded or how long the user sat on it before posting it online. With that in mind, there are a few things that lead us to believe the footage may not be from a map in its complete state.

According to the original post of the video, the map shown in the nearly 12 minutes of footage is rumored to be a part of the game’s first season. If that is the case, it seems likely that this map would be playable in a mode like Conquest. The map shown in the leaked video is quite huge, with sprawling, wide-open spaces and lots of ground to cover if you want to cross the entire map.

An important detail is that the map, as big as it is, also looks rather barren. A lot of it is empty space with no buildings or much cover from mountains or other terrain. This suggests that it may not be a finished map. Particularly, it doesn’t seem to have been filled out with everything that will be present in it when and if it makes it into the game.

You can also see details like the words “debug decal” on the side of the sledgehammer being carried by the person running around. Another indicator that this is early development footage of the map in some capacity. There’s also no detail whatsoever on the mini-map in the bottom left. Normally, you’d see the terrain and building locations here. However, it’s a blank slate with only the player’s location icon. Battlefield 6 launches on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, so it won’t be long before there’s confirmation on this map coming in season 1.
